This course is designed for self sufficient canyoneers who are looking to take the next step in their PNW canyon skillset.

We will expand on your current knowledge & experience and customize the course to what you are interested in and what else we believe you need to know as you advance your canyon accumen.

Participants can expect 3 Full days of hard work, learning, challenge and fun in a small class size.

Topics - We will cater what’s covered to the group, some topics below - not guaranteed or limited to:

  • Communication

  • Anchors

  • Intermediate Rigging

  • Horizontal Rope Work (traverse lines)

  • Advanced Vertical Movement & Progression (redirects & rebelays)

  • Horizontal Movement & Progression

  • Hazard Identification/Mitigation

  • Ascending (transitions & knot passing)

  • Self Rescue

  • Intermediate Swimming Techniques

  • Intro to Partner Rescue

Pre Requisites 

  • Competent Rappeller

  • Competent in at least 1 releasable rigging system

  • Familiar with canyon communication

  • Practiced in horizontal & vertical canyon progression

  • Familiar with rope management

  • Familiar with anchor concepts

Course Follow Up:

After the course, students will have the opportunity to work for a day(s) with Cascade Canyon Guides as a secondary assistant. This is a chance for more canyon exposure/experience in a group setting and a chance to reinforce skills under the direct supervision of two pro guides.
